Ev Stern Jazz Workshop

Weekly Jam Sessions and Private Lessons

Ev Stern's Jazz Workshop was formed in 1994 to help aspiring Jazz Musicians reach their goals. I have helped hundreds of musicians, of all ages, instruments, and abilities, learn how to play jazz. Some younger players have gone on to study music at Washington Middle School, Garfield and Roosevelt Highs, the New England Conservatory, the New School, Manhattan School of Music, Berklee, Columbia, Oberlin, University of Washington, and Cornish. Many adults have gone on to play in local bands, and many Jazz Ensembles were formed in the Workshop and continue to play today. Many classically trained musicians have learned how to improvise.

The Workshop is open, informal, fun, experimental, and positive. Emphasis is placed on playing together. Focus is put on your needs and interests. Weekly Jam Sessions give you an opportunity to play with others, and supplemental Private Lessons address your particular needs.

Standards: All Blues, A Night In Tunisia, Autumn Leaves, Blue Bossa, Bye Bye Blackbird, But Not For Me, Body and Soul, C-Jam Blues, Come Rain or Come Shine, Footprints, Donna Lee, Doxy, Girl From Ipenema, Giant Steps,Honeysuckle Rose, I Got Rhythm, Recordame, Round Midnight, St.Thomas, Summertime, Take the A-Train, Tenor Madness.
